MATERIAL DESCRIPTION

Essentially, appearing as a subtle basketweave constructed by a two-three-two structure - The warp has two fine yarns paired together. The weft has one heavier, softly spun fill yarn. The smaller 80/2 yarns (or sometimes 100/2 or even 140/2) allow a tighter weave and also make it look as if it has a distinctive diamond pattern woven into it which gives it a quality of formality and historical richness. Royal Oxford has a well-known soft hand and a lustrous shiny finish. Because the weave uses thinner threads, is noticeably textured, and therefore more obvious, it is considered dressier and more of a formal cloth than normal Oxford cloth fabric. Of the heavier, woven cottons, it is one of the lightest/most breathable.
