MATERIAL DESCRIPTION
Essentially, appearing as a subtle basketweave constructed by a two-three-two structure - The warp has two fine yarns paired together. The weft has one heavier, softly spun fill yarn. The smaller 80/2 yarns (or sometimes 100/2 or even 140/2) allow a tighter weave and also make it look as if it has a distinctive diamond pattern woven into it which gives it a quality of historical richness. Royal Oxford has a soft hand and a lustrous finish. Because the weave uses thinner threads, is textured and therefore more obvious it is considered dressier and more formal cloth than normal Oxford cloth fabric. Of the heavier, woven cottons, it is one of the lightest/most breathable.
